Film/Art Gallery has one of the world’s finest collections of vintage original film posters, with more than 6,000 posters online and available to view at our Hollywood showroom. We love movies, but we are equally passionate about design, and the intersection of film and art is what makes these posters unique. They can be approached and appreciated from many different perspectives, including design, photography, advertising, pop culture and film history.

Our collection includes iconic posters for classic films like “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and “Blow Up” as well unique, stylish, sexy and fun designs from around the world, many for films you may never have heard of. Our mission (and passion) is scouring the globe to find extraordinary film posters and share them with you. Our clients include well-known actors, directors, decorators, powerful entertainment executives, agents and heads of industry, but we value all of our customers equally and take great pride in our posters and our service. Every poster is guaranteed to be authentic (we do not deal in reproductions of any kind)and we promise 100% satisfaction with each purchase.Film/Art was founded by Matthew McCarthy in 2003.

The following year, while continuing his work as the poster archivist for the Audrey Hepburn Foundation, he launched the Film/Art website. Four years later, we moved to our current home in the historic Technicolor building (built in 1923 and used by them until 1974.) Since then, Film/Art has enjoyed a relationship with the American Cinematheque, held numerous exhibits throughout Los Angeles and become the premier source for vintage film posters in the Hollywood area. We have also been proud of our 15 year (and counting!) relationship with the hugely popular Cinespia at Hollywood Forever Cemetery Screenings, where we created and continue to provide the pre-film visual imagery of posters from our collection.

We have been featured on design-related sites such as Chairish, Fab.com and Daily Candy, as well as being the subject of a New York Times profile. In addition to our significant local Hollywood clientele, we have loyal customers throughout the world. Our extensive knowledge of films and film history - combined with our love of design - gives our collection its distinctive viewpoint. Primarily focused on the second half of the 20th century, it encompasses everything from the stark modernism of Saul Bass to the stunning, painterly glamour of French and Italian poster artists to the completely unique, often dazzling designs found on Polish and Czech posters. CINESPIA and HOLLYWOOD FOREVER

Hollywood Forever is a full-service funeral home, crematory, cemetery, and cultural events center in the heart of Hollywood. 

Founded in 1899, the cemetery is one of the world’s most visited landmarks, and the final resting place of hundreds of Hollywood legends, including  Judy Garland, Cecil B. DeMille, Rudolph Valentino, Mickey Rooney, Tyrone Power, Douglas Fairbanks, Johnny and Dee Dee Ramone, Valerie Harper, Chris Cornell, and hundreds of others, alongside thousands of neighborhood residents and individuals from across the globe. The functioning cemetery offers lawn spaces, cremation niches, mausoleum crypts, and the Beth Olam section is one of the oldest, active Jewish cemeteries in California.

Since 2000, Hollywood Forever has partnered with Cinespia to present cinema screenings each summer on the Fairbanks Lawn, and the cemetery’s Dia de Los Muertos celebration attracts over 30,000 visitors each year. Paramount Studios was built on the undeveloped south end of the original site, where the studio still operates, and the cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Sites in 1999.
