  • Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of original Solaris vintage movie posters, where we offer a wide range of artwork for one of cinema's ultimate science fiction film series.

Solaris is a 1972 Russian science fiction art film adopted from Stanisław Lem's novel of the same name published in 1961, directed by Andrei Tarkovsky. Starring Donatas Banionis as Kris Kelvin, Natalya Bondarchuk as Hari, Jüri Järvet as Dr. Snaut, Sos Sargsyan as Dr. Gibarian.

Upon his arrival at Solaris Station, a scientific research station, none of the three remaining scientists bother to greet Kelvin, and he finds the space station in dangerous disarray. He soon discovered that his friend among the scientists, Dr. Gibarian, has killed himself.

The two crewmen—Snaut and Sartorius—are unhelpful and evasive. Kelvin catches glimpses of others aboard the station who were not part of the original crew. He also finds that Gibarian left him a confused, puzzling farewell video message, warning him about the station.

Solaris premiered at the 1972 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Grand Prix Spécial du Jury. In the USSR, the film premiered on February 5, 1973, in the Mir film theater in Moscow. Despite the film's narrow release in only five film theaters in the USSR, the film sold 10.5 million tickets.

Film/Art Gallery's collection of Solaris movie posters include a 1972 Solaris poster in a very fine condition, printed in Russia (with English text) and intended to be used when the movie was shown in English-speaking territories and a British Quad (30x40) size.

Film/Art Gallery movie posters are original prints and film poster collectibles. These are original movie posters. We do not carry any movie poster reproductions or reprints of any kind.
